I feel very lucky to have been invited to visit the state of the art, modern headquarters of Equipe in Valdagno, Italy. This is where the beautiful Amerigo and Equipe saddles are designed, crafted and manufactured, using the highest quality materials and leathers. Most people know that Amerigo saddles have flocked panels and a variety of tree shapes to ensure that even the most challenging horse conformation can be fitted. Equipe saddles have always, up until now, had foam panels, giving a superbly close contact feel and nonetheless suiting the vast majority of horses.
Now Equipe have launched their new dressage saddle, the “Elizabeth” and it has flocked panels! I sat in it and loved it. It is currently being trialled by a sponsored rider here in the UK, who has given it the thumbs up, so I think it is going to be a great addition to the dressage range, particularly with an inviting RRP of just under £3,500.
Please remember, that Equipe and Amerigo saddles can be adjusted a width fitting either way. It can be done reasonably cheap in the UK by the Equipe authorised repairer, and saddle turnaround is normally under a week.
As a sad footnote, I fainted in the extraordinary heat and wound up sampling the excellent Italian healthcare system (NHS eat your heart out)….
